Day 14

Day 14 - A picture of you and your family.

The family is a haven in a heartless world.  ~Attributed to Christopher Lasch

My family--the greatest thing I've been given. I've always loved them, but I didn't really know just how priceless they are to me until I came to BYU. I will admit, I still struggle with homesickness. I wish I could see them every weekend like some of the girls in my hall. I love them so much and I'm so grateful for temples and that because my parents were married and sealed there, I can live with them for time and all eternity. They make me smile; they make me laugh; they make me hopeful. 46 more days until I finally get to go home.

NEXT STOP: Day 15 - Put your iPod on shuffle; first 10 songs that play.

Day 13

Day 13 - A letter to someone who has hurt you recently...to be honest, no one has hurt me recently. One, I don't get hurt easily and two, I'm probably in a place that's known for being "too friendly"...so this will be more for laughs than anything else.

Dear BB,
I'm hurt that we haven't seen each other in WT. You got my hopes up on the last day of class and you keep getting them up every Tuesday and Thursday. I coordinate my work-out clothes and I even rewash my face and reapply my make up for you. For Pete's sake, if you see me again on campus, say "hi" to me, because I'm too scared to do it.

Kind regards,
A-girl-who-has-had-a-crush-on-you-since-the-beginning-of-the-semester-and-has-FINALLY-admitted-it-to-herself

Life update: I was asked to give a talk next Sunday on the Fireside today. I went to the Fireside and Elder L. Tom Perry spoke. I hung out in Miles/Andre's room during visiting hours because Alison pulled the they-won't-be-here-for-the-next-two-years card. Miles killed me at this card game called Blink. The guys took my ID card. Miles kept poking me with his ski pole thing. Everyone kept messing with J.R. All in all, fun day.

PS: I don't know why these spaces are ridiculous...

Day 12

How you found out about Blogs and why you made one.

Wow, these entries are getting a little on the boring side haha. I found out about blogs because my cousins had them and I thought they were so cute. Then when I got to Utah, they all said I should get a blog. So I did. The end. That's how "The BYU Project" was born.

My weekend consisted of a GNI--Girls' Night In. Meaning a sleepover in my room. There was junk food, crazy pictures, laughter, movies, the Big Girl Bed, scare attempts, skyping, and much more. I had it with Alison, Corinne, and Jonni. It was so much fun. :]

Issues Paper Thesis/Day 11

Although international sports competitions cause a strong sense of national pride for the winners, the events are "preranked" or "predetermined" because of the country's political status, economic status and location.

Day 11 - Another picture of you and your friends.

Really? I basically said anything and everything about my friends. Would any of you hate that I'm not going to do this? Too bad, cuz I'm not going to rewrite about this...haha. But I am having a GNO with Corinne and Alison...fun, funnn!

Here's something I'm obsessing over. JUSTIN BIEBER. His music makes me so happy. Enjoy him. Love him.

Day 10

Songs you listen to when you are happy, sad, bored, hyper, mad.

First off, I absolutely LOVE music. Jammin' out, dancing like crazy, or simply to relax. Love it. But I'm going to combine/add a few different categories...

Happy/Hyper/Dancing Mood:

  • If I Had You & For Your Entertainment--Adam Lambert
  • Saturday--Basshunter
  • Yeah 3X--Chris Brown
  • Can't Be Tamed--Miley Cyrus (I know, don't judge me)
  • Break My Bank (feat. Iyaz)--New Boys
  • Hard--Rihanna & Jeezy
  • I Don't Wanna Dance--Hey Monday (It actually makes me want to dance...haha)
  • More--Usher
  • Commander (feat. David Guetta)--Kelly Rowland
  • And tons, tons, TONS more
Sad:
  • Why--Secondhand Serenade
  • That Should Be Me--Justin Bieber
  • Dust--Cara Salimando
Mad:
  • Forget You--Glee Cast
  • Get Out--JoJo
  • Over It--Katherine McPhee
Spiritual/Church:
  • I Am His Daughter--Nicole Sheahan
  • I Believe In Christ--Jen Marco Handy
  • What Heaven Sees In You--Mindy Gledhill
Okay, so those are just a few...trust me, I had to edit down my lists. Too many to name, but enjoy if you care to listen.

NEXT DAY: Day 11 - Another picture of you and your friends.

Day 9

Something you're proud of in the past few days.

Let's see...
  • I passed my Intro to ComD midterm
  • I've increased my time in PDBio Open Lab
  • I survived Midterm week
  • I went to the gym to go lifting even though Weight Training is officially over (I didn't see Ryan though...dang it.)
These are just some of the things I'm proud of. Some are very small, but small things count too.

By the way, found this online...I'm so proud of my school. It takes discipline to follow the Honor Code and it takes guts to fess up when you don't follow it (two words: Brandon Davies). Enjoy!

Issue Essay Possibility/Day 8

Considering the fact that this essay will be 8-10 pages and needs 8-15 sources, I need to come up with something I'll find interesting...otherwise, this essay will NOT get done or at least done well. So what do I like? Sports. I'm not the biggest sports guru, where I know every player, every rule, or every statistic in every sport...but I do love to play and watch them. So I figured, why not write about them?
jkhkj
I'm thinking about writing about international sport competitions (perhaps the Olympics or World Cup) and whether or not their economic status, political status, or location "predetermine" their ranking or outcome. Yes, some of it does depend on the actual athlete, but does more money make it easier for them to get better equipment or fulfill their needs? Does a prospering, or at least functioning, government provide a better atmosphere for their athletes? Does location matter depending on the sport or can there be other alternatives (ex: Jamaican bobsled team)?
kjsd
That's the only thing I could come up with. I hope it works, sounds interesting or at least is doable. Thoughts?

Short term goals for this month and why.
klj
Let's see...short term goals for the month of March (and it's the first day for that matter--how appropriate to write down all my goals!).
  1. Read the Book of Mormon every day--I've always struggled reading the BOM every day and it'll help me stay on top of my BOM reading for class.
  2. Exercise at least 3 days a week--has to happen anyway, for the sake of overall fitness health, stress-level, and family pictures in July.
  3. Get passing grades on my tests/quizzes--who likes failing grades?
  4. Study at least 2 hours per class per week (except for PDBio...time doubled)--gotta study hard to get the good scores.
  5. Keep my room clean...or at least presentable--yeah, that's been a struggle ever since Alison N. moved out. It's gotta stop, that's for sure.
NEXT STOP: Day 9 - Something you're proud of in the past few days.

PS: It's Justin Bieber's birthday today.
