A Summer Sum Up

Hello all! As you can see, it has been a verrrry long time since I've posted anything. My apologizes. I've had quite the summer, with all my jobs, vacation, and changing life decisions. I've become everyone's go-to girl. I've become practically a straight-up mom, due to the demands of one of my jobs. A LOT has happened.

Over the course of this summer, I have had two to three jobs (currently, I have three). I work as a legal assistant to an immigration attorney, a personal care assistant to a family with an autistic child and as a community college bookstore keeper. These jobs have certainly kept me on my toes...in the actual job and to when I have to hustle to the next. Not to mention, the odds-and-ends jobs I've been given: dog/house sitting (twice, for two different people) and plant-watering (during a week where the temperature was over 100 degrees not including humidity. It was straight up death). I've been all about the money! Haha

All about the money, except for the occasional trip and vacation. I've gone to the beach with my family a few days of the summer and spent a week with my friend, Sammi, and her family (such a blast!). Besides that, I've met up with a few friends throughout the summer...not as often as I'd like, but that's what you pay for when you have two to three jobs.

Now, for the big news. I've become so money oriented because of one big reason...I have decided to go on a mission! To be honest, I couldn't be more thrilled. It has been pressing on my mind and heart for a long time and I finally made a decision and just prayed about it. I waited for the icky feeling to come...and it never did. And my decision would be that I would stay home for a semester and work, as I worked on my mission papers and go in January. I had such a peaceful feeling and it felt as though all my concerns and worries about going to school, earning money for both, and time had been lifted. I know this is what I'm supposed to do. I love the Gospel so much. I know my Heavenly Father loves me. I know I'll be sent where I am most needed and where I can grow. The future is bright, everyone!

Well, I have to get ready for church now...sorry if it sounded spacey, but I had to just get this all out! Also, a quick quote that would've been about the John Bytheway lecture I had (its about work and the value of it): Satan always chooses his followers who are idle; the Savior always chose his followers who were busy at work, from mending their nets, to casting them out to see. So everyone, be busy in a good purpose. That is all! Happy Sunday.

prayer. and other things.

when you don't feel like praying, that's when you need to pray the most.

true fact.

also, sorry for the delay, so much has happened. john bytheway lecture coming soon (here's a snippet of what i LOVED--satan chose his disciples when they were idle and being unproductive; Christ chose His disciples when they were busy at work, casting in their nets...).

less than a week til i head home.

3 more finals. packing. cleaning. airport.

hallelujah.

Since Its Been Over A Month...

The last time I wrote on this was over a month ago. Instead of trying to relive the memories, I'm just gonna talk about the most recent events. That's kinda my new thing--look to the present. You cant really move forward, when you keep looking past your shoulder...or at least I'm attempting to live by that. So here's the latest and greatest.

My roommate, McCall, got her mission call! She is called to serve in the Oklahoma Tulsa Mission, English speaking. I am so pumped for her! I know she will be a fantastic missionary. We did a little bit of research on Oklahoma...apparently it is the heart of tornado alley (we love tornadoes....). We also looked up the food. Apparently when McCall searched it online, the first thing that popped up had something to do with unborn fetuses. Sounds delicious right? We laughed about that for a good five minutes. Another food tidbit, apparently Oklahoma is the state that eats the least fruits and vegetables and overloads on BBQ.

McCall screamed, "I'M GONNA COME BACK FAT!" after reading that...haha. But we're still so pumped. Oklahoma Tulsa Mission better watch out! :]

Weekend Madness. :]

Because I have lots o' stuff to do, here's a quick skim of my weekend.

Thursday--I went to Young Ambassadors with my roommates, McCall and Kristen and their friend, Kassidy. It was a super huge cheese feast, but still great. It was called "The Harmony of Life" and literally went through a person's phases of life. I was super happy when they sung Just Haven't Met You Yet by Michael Buble...definitely the phase I'm in.

Friday--I spent it with my cousin, Sam, and later on with my Aunt Karen and cousin, Katie. Later we went up to their house and spent the night.

Saturday--I had a date with my friend, Jefferson. It was a double with my other friend/Jefferson's roommate, Mike, and Jefferson's cousin, Elizabeth. We went ice skating (super terrifying, but I didn't fall) and then played games. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

Sunday--I went to church and then Sam and I booked it over to our Uncle Chris/Aunt Vickie's house to celebrate Jacob's 18th birthday. It's crazy that he's soon gonna be out of high school...I remember back to when we were kids, getting into all sorts of mischief. Then after that, Sam and I headed over to our Uncle John/Aunt Cindy's house to hang out with their family and our Aunt Karen's family (Uncle Bob was sick). Two dinner parties at the same time...sure makes you want Hermione's Time Turner (for all you Harry Potter obsessed fans).

Monday--I cleaned my room like a banshee. Why a banshee? Because it was necessary with the huge amount of chaos in my room. In a little over an hour, I will be heading over to Provo Canyon for FHE. I will be frozen.

That is all. Peace.

PS: In Mission Prep (during church), I really liked this quote this girl said when talking about patience (especially when having it with ourselves)...its gonna be my new life motto...

"Stop worrying about 'being' and enjoy in 'becoming'."

Catch-Up Post

Title explains it all. Let's get to it.

Thanksgiving: Spent with Gma & Gpa Koko, along with Uncle Alan & Aunt Lori; Uncle Eric, Aunt Rhonda & their kids; and Josh (not Utah Josh) & his girlfriend, Aimee. Busy house. Great time there.

20th Birthday: My roommates are the sweetest. They got everything together and threw a party for me--they invited the whole ward. I could not ask for a more special day. I also had a birthday dinner with my Uncle Chris, Aunt Vickie and their kids; cousins Brittany (and her baby, Teli) and Sam; and friends, Jared and Michaela. I walked into my room with 'Happy Birthday' balloons and gifts from my cousin, Lindsey and her family. And last but not least, my birthday package from my family! It was the best!  :]

Finals: Worst ever...mostly because I got influenza from my roommate. Tragic, but what can you do. So after sleeping and studying, I finally made it through the week and passed all my classes! Oh, the Lord's tender mercies...

Christmas (!!!) Break: Was fun. Had a BUNCH of relaxing with the family, catching up on sleep, BBC, and DC fun. On Christmas, we had a party with some family friends, which was nice...I got to see Corinne, Court, Emily and Melissa over the break. For New Year's Eve, Court and I went to the most AWKWARD Single's Dance of our lives (hopefully)...luckily we saw some guys our age from our VA stake, so we hung out with them haha.

DC fun.  :]

That is all! Now back to packing! Back to good ol' Provo tomorrow!
